Two loves: Sheets & Chocolate

I love my bed.
Seriously.
More importantly i love clean sheets that feel awesome.
{i’ve actually talked about this before}
I think it ties back to being a child and “having to have cold clean sheets” to sleep.
I remember flipping my pillow over all night so i could sleep on the cool side, i was a weird child…i know. So needless to say, i have been known to stock my linen closet FULL of sheets.
Here is the irony to the story: I think spending over $40 on a set of bed sheets is insane.
womp womp
Do YOU know of any nice bedsheets that are under $40?!? No, i didn’t think so.
My grandmother got me the most amazing egyptian cotton bed sheets YEARS ago that now have a few holes in them…but i love them (and only use them in the winter otherwise i get too hot). My cousin loves them too; every time he spends the night with my brother he searches through the linen closet for “his sheets”…ha keep dreaming bro.
I had recently bought a set of sheets at Ross that were like 300 thread count…and i loved they way the felt, until a week later. Apparently i move in my sleep because within a week there were little pills (fabric bumps) all over my fitted sheet. ugh.
. . .
While i was at Target i noticed that they had a lot of their sheets on clearance.
I am not able to find the exact sheets i got on their website but these are close enough.
I got a 325 thread-count grey set for about $30.
I got them home, washed them, and put them on my bed and man oh man i really, really like them.
{you can see some of the ideas i have about changing my bedroom here}
. . .
I also made these babies last night:
here.
I found these “No Bake Oatmeal Cookies” on Oh She Glows website, and i knew i had to make them.
Her recipe calls for:
1/2 cup rolled oats, 1/4 cup non-dairy chocolate chips, 1 large banana, 1 tsp pure vanilla extract, 1 tbsp chia seeds, 1 tbsp buckwheat groats (optional), 1 tsp cocoa powder, sweetener, if preferred.
{I crossed out the things i didn’t use}
I was unable to find any chia seeds at Harris Teeter (arg) so i used some flax seeds instead.
I also added honey and a shake or two of cinnamon as well as semi-sweet chocolate chips instead to the recipe.
I followed her directions:
{1} In a microwave safe bowl, melt the chocolate chips for about 60 seconds being careful not to burn them. Remove from microwave and stir so the rest of the chips melt.
{2} Roughly chop the banana and mash it into the melted chips with a fork.
{3} Stir in the rest of the ingredients into the chocolate & banana and stir very well until all of the oats are coated with chocolate.
{4} Line a plate with parchment paper and drop about 7 cookies into it {i used cupcake liners instead}.
Place them in the freezer for about 1 hour until firm. Cookies will firm up, but they won’t become solid and will remain chewy.
. . .
YUM…seriously. They were so delicious.
I have…oh i dont know, three left?
Yup i gobbled those suckers down and didn’t feel to dang guilty about it either.
. . .
Have you tried any new recipe’s lately?
Do you have an unhealthy obsession with bed sheets?
Spill.

    I love sheets so much. Lately I've looked at them while in Walmart or wherever, but you're right – so expensive!! We registered for & received two sheet sets for our wedding. One from BB&B that were a higher nicer thread count & one from Walmart. The walmart ones were cozy but a lot cheaper & now i know why – i eventually had to throw them out b/c they thinned so much that there were holes in them! (A lot of holes.) So we're down to ONE set of sheets! I must get some more. Maybe for Christmas! 🙂

    I love cold sheets and pillow too. I splurged and got a set of 750 thread count a few years ago. Heaven, let me tell you. I love your comforter too! I am about to change my room colors, so sadly, my beloved sheets won't match any longer.

    I love the idea of awesome sheets too! I am into the cotton but feel almost like silk ones. Unfortunately, I am cheap and have been saying I'm going to get a new bed for like 5 years. So, I REALLY don't want to splurge on some new sets until then. Stupid…But true.

    I haven't tried any new recipes all that recently. I posted about Joy the Baker's chocolate peanutbutter frosted cupcakes a few weeks back and I think that's the latest new thing I have baked.

    Today I ate no less than four cookies. Again, chocolate cookies with peanutbutter chips. I had put some in the freezer last time I baked them! Smart, smart, smart!

    I need to buy new sheets! I bought a new quilt for my bed which I looooove and I need sheets that match it. I never bought really nice sheets so I am considering a splurge. Who knows!

    I love no bake cookies. Too bad I can't eat them because of all the sugar. I miss them. My mom had the best peanut butter no bake recipe. They literally melt in your mouth. Amazing! But I eat the whole batch in a really short amount of time haha. Not so good for me!

    Great post. I love my bed too. I just bought this pillow top queen size bed set, it is the most comfortable bed. I usually buy sheets that are on sale because I don't want to pay more the $40 either but my friends say I need to get egyptian cotton bed sheets. They say I don't know what comfort is until I sleep on egyptian cotton. Those cookies just made me hungry. Thanks so much for sharing.
