Happy Monday!
This weekend i decided to finally break in the DIY fire pit with a Burn Party.
Well, as mentioned originally here a Burn Party is:
Oh, you know its a time to make some smores, burn your fears, your angers, your bitterness, oh and of course the ex-boyfriend things. Meh, it’s just time for them to go.
Why hold onto any letters when i know what they say?
My friend Beverly made a beautiful point the other day:
Girl, get rid of it…it’s just paper, just ink, only images…you’ll remember what you need to remember.
Amen, couldn’t have said it better myself.
So, with this fire i will be burning away the part of myself that refuses to let go.
I WILL become a woman who learns from her past but does not dwell on it.
Dwelling on something that you can no longer change leads to being chained to it.
I want freedom, not bondage.

Want to talk about success?!
OH it was a success!
We burned our fears, worries, frustrations, angers, and of course the ex-boyfriend stuff.
It was so incredibly therapeutic, seriously.
I was surrounded by some of my favorite people and we laughed, cried, told jokes, stories, and just bonded over junk food, fire, paper, and laughter. It was awesome.
Let’s get to the pictures, we all know that is what you want to see right?!
🙂
Two things:
#1 I want to go on record and say that i in no way-shape-or-form hate my ex. He is an overall great guy who loves Jesus and has an amazing family. Things with us have just been rocky for the last few years and i think it’s built {and sporadically torn down} animosity, bitterness, frustration, and just UGH between the two of us. While there is definitely some indifferent feelings between us, i know that there is also a mutual respect. When you are with someone for as long as we were you learn to respect the good and bad within a person, regardless of if you work out or not. I’m thankful for the relationship i had with him, and even more thankful that i have come out of it a better person than i was going in.
So, that is why i took his face out of the pictures, I respect who he is, and where he is in life and i’m not going to tarnish his name, that’s just immature.
#2 I know how to build a fire, i really do. However, you wouldn’t have known that on Saturday night. This thing took forEVER to build, oh my gosh i had absolutely zero patience. It finally caught after we ran to the store and got some of those pre-packaged fire starters, i was so frustrated. Grrrr.
. . .
So there is the Burn Party!
Loads of fun, all in good humor, and spent with some amazing women!

Love it! Looks like a perfect night. 🙂
I miss smores.
You can always build a fire like my dad… throw some wood in the fire pit, add gas, light a piece of paper and throw it in and then use the blower that blows up the air mattress to get that bad boy going. No joke… that's how my dad starts his fires haha.
Woo hoo for the swap! I hope someone signs up!
You are too cool. Like, seriously. Your decorations are perfect. I would looove this party.
This looks like it was a lot of fun! I'm glad it was a success.
So fun! I'm the same way when it comes to trying to build a fire. I once used almost a whole roll of paper towels as a fire starter for a bag of paper. It just wasn't catching on fast enough for my liking.
I love it. Awesome, girl. 🙂
P.S. I want smores. I've been saying that actually! 🙂
This is so awesome! What a fun idea. I totally know what you mean…sometimes you just need to move on and start fresh- it doesn't mean you hate someone- it just means you are looking forward and not back! Love that you guys did smores too! I LOVE SMORES.
Aw, this all looks like so much fun! You can never go wrong with smores! And don't worry, I don't know how to build a fire either! It's so hard!
