. . .
Well here was the plan last night:
{the *’s mark what was completed}
Get home*, go for a run*, read*, cook some fish, clean up a little, get some blog reading done, and prepare some blogs for today and next week.
Can you see that only two things happened?
Well i ended up getting a call right when i got in from my run from my cousin’s aunt, saying Dylan had busted his hand open from slamming into a palm tree (didn’t know they were so dangerous did you?!).
I ran by and picked him up (with my brother and other cousin {Ty} following behind me) and we went to the ER (this was around 8ish).
Bo, Ty, & Dylan all kept making fun of me for not looking at his cut. Umm do you want me to pass out while driving? Ty’s response to my queasiness was to crack a joke, you’re going to be a bad mom. HA. I told him when it counts i can take care of it, so bite me. For instance Bo one time jumped off a life-guard stand and it shattered and sliced into his feet really bad and i had to pick out all the pieces and cut his dead skin off while oozing blood…queasy yet? YOU’RE WELCOME.
We were there for only a few minutes before my uncle came and then Dylan’s grandma, and she had his brother (4 years old) and sister (8 years old) in tow.
We got Dylan settled and we were all hanging out in the waiting room.
The kids hadn’t eaten.
I was gross.
I ended up getting jackson’s booster seat and took him and hannah to my car, buckled them up, got some chick-fil-a, got home, put on alvin & the chipmunks only to have to turn it off halfway through since it was already past their bed time. Make them beds on the couch, turn on some soft christian worship music and they were OUT.
THEN i remembered {hey i don’t have kids} that i needed to get them up to go to the bathroom before they go to sleep. oops. Hannah got up…and was completely delusional and was all ‘whats going on, where am i?!” she finally went to the bathroom and then i had to lead her back to the couch; poor child she was sleeping while standing.
Jackson…that was another story. He would not get up when i finally got him up he was all “sllleeeeeepppppp” and fell back onto the couch and fell asleep like this:
Little boys crack me up.
I really couldn’t stop laughing after taking this, i even made maria get up and come look…so funny.
Ahhh children.
All things ended well. Dylan got 6 stitches and can’t swim for 10 days (swim team season just started = chaos at my house). So he is a little bummed but he now has an awesome battle scar vs a palm tree.
Lesson of today: Dylan – 0 Palm tree – 1
Palm trees are beasts.
Link up if you wrote a post that was frank today:
Sounds like a chaotic night! At least you got a run in 😉 Have a great weekend girl!
I think you handled this better than some actual moms would…there are bad moms out there (like my aunt…there were days when she simply didn't feel like getting out of bed to take my cousin to school).
Sounds like quite the night! I totally smiled when I read the wake-up to go to the bathroom thing! It's definitely important (good thing you remembered!) and I can definitely see some of the kids I know having the same reaction to that situation. 🙂
p.s. Hope Dylan's hand gets better soon!
What a fun night! You have got a great blog hun 🙂
You'll make an awesome mom!!!!
I am with you on the whole major blood thing. I always freak out more than the person who is actually hurt. And yes, people laugh…every time.
Poor guy! I seriously never knew palm trees could be so dangerous. Sounds like you'd be a great mom! I would have never thought about the bathroom!! I would have woken up with messes on the couches…yikes.
Wow! Remind me to never get in a fight with a palm tree!
Goodness! That sounds a bit crazy. Glad his hand will heal. Btw, that's hilarious what both Jackson and Hannah did when you remembered they should have used the bathroom. Kids are hilarious. And Jackson…well, just protect that picture for technology failure, because it's so precious and hilarious all in one!
Wow that sounds crazy! It's hard taking care of kids when you don't have one of your own. I forget lots of stuff when I babysit my sisters…like bedtimes. Hahaha!
When I worked in the ER and patients with cuts came in, I always made sure they knew upfront I wasn't a nurse so do NOT show me. One guy showed me anyway because he thought it was funny. Not cool, bro!
palm trees. who knew??
Hahah…wow! A palm tree?? Pretty crazy! At least he has a very interesting story to share. 🙂
And those sleeping positions are pretty hilarious. It's interesting how uncomfortably you can sleep when you are so tired!
Glad Dylan will be okay! At least he has a great story to share. 🙂 Way to step up when you were needed!
