I just wanted to say an incredibly huge THANK YOU to all of the men & women who have served in the past, the present, and who will serve in the future to keep our country free.
It shouldn’t be just one day a year that we express our gratitude, it should honestly be every time we see a man or woman in uniform. We should recognize the sacrifice each person makes, and realize that they have families at home who miss them and worry for them and are waiting for them to return.
Thank you to all the military individuals that i do not have the pleasure of knowing.
& thank you to all of the ones that i do.
Granddaddy, Larry, Tripp, Steven, Matt, Ashley, and Edward.
{im sure i’m forgetting a few}
Today makes me think of my grandfather.
He was a Vietnam Veteran.
He was a pilot who dealt with agent orange.
His box of metals is quite impressive, especially with a purple heart in there.
I remember sitting on his bed and hearing him tell my brother and I stories from the war and from his life. He was truly a remarkable man and i miss him to this day.
. . .
I also wanted to share this powerful picture.
It brought tears to my eyes.
Soldiers on the flight home.

Wow, those photos are great. I am so thankful for these people. There are no words to express what they've all done/do for us.
I appreciate the sacrifice of people such as your grandmother. Sadly, some people treat this holiday as a three-day weekend and don't think of the reason behind it.
Wow! That photo!
Such a great picture to have of your grandfather! It's great that you got to hear his stories, I always wish I asked my grandpa for more stories.
Great post. That last picture reminds me of a photo I have of my husband and his unit when they were on their way into Iraq…definitely invokes thought and appreciation
it is great to see others who appreciate our military, amy. my brother just got back from his first deployment. 🙂 growing up, whenever we went to see my dad's parents in south carolina, my brother and i would sit with my grandfather and listen to stories. he had all of his medals in a huge frame in the bedroom we stayed in as kids. now that he's gone, most of them sit framed in our piano room. 🙂
our military makes more sacrifices than we will ever understand and the most we can do is give them our support 🙂
