Weekend happenings

This Weekend…
Was spent relaxing, painting, going to a life-long (literally) best friend’s birthday party, church, coffee, working out, more painting, purchasing, 30 day self-portrait challenge and more relaxing.
I definitely didn’t get as much done as i wanted to, but hey that’s life right?
. . .
Jessie’s (in the middle) birthday party!
. . .
Now, the story with the painting the office.
🙂
The room was once white, then we hung these huge shelves that existed in a hutch in another part of our house on the main wall that you see. Then my grandfather painted half the room yellow…yes half. Then i was bored with the color and decided this teal/turquoise was the way to go.
I also decided that i didn’t want to move anything (cabinets/shelves) so i painted around it.
This was also the first real room i painted; read: it was a horrible paint job.
I started priming and painting the trim a week or so ago (it takes for-ever!!) and we finished that on Saturday. I had looked at some paint swatches and decided to forgo my normal test paint can and just buy the dang gallon of paint + primer.
W.R.O.N.G idea. 🙁
I started painting, put down my brush, walked to my brothers room and he looked at me and said “is it not the right color?” …no, it wasn’t.
It’s more purple than the grey it is supposed to be.
I’m not sure if this picture does it any justice, but i was pretty dang frustrated.
I cut in the corners and the ceiling last night and the broseph is supposed to caulk the base boards and do some sanding today so i can cut in the baseboards and possibly start rolling tonight!
I can’t wait for y’all to see the finished product!!
SHOOT i can’t wait to have the finished product; but that’s a few months and some saving $$ away.
{^this is not how the set up of the desk will be, just fyi}
Also…i did buy the bookshelf i was talking about on Friday.
After looking around for something the same size with glass doors, i found nothing for the same price. I bit the bullet and purchased it; only to find out that the day it will be shipped here my bro might already be gone…womp womp. I’m going to have to enlist some help to get it put together!
. . .
Also mentioned on Friday i started the 30 day self-portrait challenge created by A Beautiful Mess.
This has been really, really challenging for me. I’m attempting to think outside of the box, learn how to take self-portraits using a tripod (which i just got a new one and i’m so frustrated with it, yes i bought a cheaper one but UGH it blows). Trying to capture different facets of my personality and what i enjoy doing…i’m coming up empty handed sometimes. I’m not sure what i’ll do for todays pictures…ahhh maybe pinterest will come to my rescue (you can see my photo board on pinterest here).
I would be very interested to know if any of y’all are doing the challenge, and if so where are you posting your pictures?!?! Also have you been able to limit yourself to only 1 photo a day? Yeah, i can’t do that. I end up taking like 200 pictures, picking 30 i like, and then editing like 6 for each day…and that makes me sound self absorbed…i promise i’m not!
You can see/follow my challenge pictures on my Flickr Set.
{do you have a flickr? let’s be friends!}
Here are a few pictures from days 2-4 of the challenge:
 . . .
How was y’alls weekend?
Did you do anything fun/interesting? Or were you relaxing 90% of the time like me? 🙂

    Glad you had a nice weekend!

    Can't wait to see the office. I had the SAME thing happen. I was going for taupe and got a color that looks GRAY during the day and PURPLE at night. I like the color, but not in the area that I meant it for. Still, I have noooo idea when I'll get around to fixing it!

    I love your creativity coming through in the photo challenge! 🙂

    Oh many I can't imagine how frustrated you must've been with that paint. I HATE painting, but love the change it brings to a room.
    Second, I would totally suck at the self-portrait challenge. I usually don't like pictures of myself, plus coming up with a different angle just of yourself everyday must be really hard! Yours are great so far!
