living by the water means one thing most of the time: you take it for granted.
i’ve grown up living 15 minutes from the beach (30 on a bad traffic day), sand in between my toes, boat rides whenever the grandparents wanted, walking on a dock barefoot, too many sunburns, and never enough hours in the day. Wetlands and salt water have always been normal for me.
as i’ve gotten older i’ve realized how truly beautiful it is…
…and how blessed i am to see all of this beauty.
Sunday i was out at my grandparents house hanging out on the dock with my cousin Ty. the sun was setting, i was snapping pictures – and it just really hit me “man, we really live in a beautiful place” he just laughed and said “yeah we do” – “i mean – we are really so lucky that we’re able to come out here whenever we want and just look at the water and marsh”…it’s true.
i take it for granted far too often.
God is a masterful, beautiful creator – and i forget it, a lot.
here are some snippets from Sunday.
thanks grandma + grandaddy for letting us come out and ride around on the golf cart, fish, lay out, explore the woods, eat your food, and be stupid. 🙂 y’all rock.
. . .
ps – thank y’all for all of the birthday wishes yesterday! <3
pps – Tobi is driving me mad. he is still peeing outside of his box – just to piss me off (because he’s being treated for a UTI so it isn’t that). I have to go buy a new litter box for him tonight (per vets recommendations to help him calm the freak down).
ppPs – etsy crushes tomorrow. 🙂
These photos are awesome! I love the last one…so beautiful. I am guilty of taking God's world for granted. I live close to the highest point in Alabama, there are some really beautiful mountains over here. But when you are able to see it every day, you DO forget to thank God for creating such a beautiful earth.
Now that I think about it, I kind of take the beautiful places in my life for granted too! It wasn't even until I didn't go to the beach regularly that I realized how much I LOVE the beach and how much it was possible to miss the beach. 🙂
Tobi – get your act together, or else….Amy is going to let the neighbors eat you for dinner! Okay, maybe not, but I hope the new litter box helps!
Hope you have a great day!
You DO live in a beautiful place 🙂
These photos are incredible!! I've always envied those who live near water. There's something about being near a large body of water that's so peaceful! You're a lucky duck =)
I love those moments when you realize that where you are is gorgeous! I have been having so many of those since I moved back to my hometown after living in the city for 6 years. My husband must be pretty annoyed because I am constantly saying, "Oh my gosh, this is our life!! We live here!"
What gorgeous pictures. You really do live in a beautiful place! And is that someone holding a squirrel!?!?!? It's kind of my dream to have a pet squirrel. 😉
Amaaaaaazing pictures, Amy!
So many pretty photos! I am especially a fan of the sunset shots.
And I so get what you mean when you said "God is a masterful, beautiful creator – and i forget it, a lot." It is so easy to forget that and this post of yours was a beautiful reminder of His great creation and my need to thank Him for it. 🙂
hold the phone…your grandparents live ON edisto?? gosh, it is so beautiful there. one of my favorite pictures ever is from edisto. i took it years and years ago and there's a print of it sitting in my closet somewhere. things get lost in there…
beautiful pictures, amy! so glad you have a great weekend with your family 🙂
Looks like a great place! I would be there all the time!
Aww little squirrel! Looks like a lovely place to get to spend time!
Edisto is beautiful, and on my bucket list! So peaceful. 🙂
