2013 was a good year, banner really in some circumstances.
i want 2014 to be all that God has in store for it to be.
truthfully – i keep learning how little my planning has to do with anything, God’s plans will always prevail whether they line up with mine or not.
So without further ado – here is the 2014 list:
+ read the entire Bible. gasp, i know, i haven’t done this yet?! i have read probably 80% of it throughout my life – but i haven’t forced myself to really dig my heels in and read page for page from cover to cover. and i’m going to have to do this OUTSIDE of my daily study time. i’m one of these people who has to really study God’s word when i’m digging in, not just read a paragraph, close the Bible, and “mark it off my check list.” yeah, no that doesn’t fly in this nest.
+ study, really study the Word. this pretty much goes hand in hand with the first one. dig in deep, bust out my theology books, dig deeper, fast, and pray through the scripture.
+ get rid of some toxins i’ve kept in my life. truth be told – i hold onto some things even though i know they are not good for me. it’s time to clean house.
+ training. keep going to my trainer and really push myself. having a trainer isn’t for everyone, i get that, but for me that extra umphf of accountability really resonates.
+ another 35lbs. i was proud of the 35 i lost in 2013 – but i’m not finished. i’ve got around 35 more pounds to drop until i’m at my ‘goal weight’. i would also like for this to not take the whole year, realistically i would like to have it gone by summer time – june – which is 6 months. 6 months to really kick my butt into gear.
+ more fun movement. this encompasses a lot of things. i would love to pick up boxing/go to a boxing gym, kickboxing class. there is just something powerful and awesome about throwing a good right hook. this also means more outdoor movement – kayaking, rock climbing, hiking, etc.
+ save $$ for the sibling trip. my brother & i are going back to ireland and scotland in 1 1/2 years. can i get a what what!!! i’m so pumped – seriously like SO PUMPED!
+ stretch out of my comfort zone. sounds easy right – not always. i really want to push some limits and LIVE life this year.
+ conference? this was on last years list, maybe i’ll make it to a conference this year.
+ gun range + capture the flag.& no not together, this isn’t the hunger games and that wouldn’t end well.
+ write my story. this was also on 2013’s list, and it just didn’t happen – and i’m ok with it. obviously parts of my story are still (and will always be) being written. but our stories are meant to be embraced and shared with others. connecting is so crucial.
+ paint more. get my brushes dirty and really create.
+ develop my style. in all aspects; clothing, writing, blogging, etc.
so there are my goals, resolutions, changes, whatever you want to call them.
i’m looking forward to what 2014 holds.
have you written about your goals?

looks like you'll have an awesome & busy year!! 🙂 great list!
Great list Amy!
FUN Movement… I like that! 🙂
I love categorized lists like this! You've got some great goals there and they all seem entirely attainable. Good luck!
This is such an awesome list! I really need to read the entire Bible. It's so intimidating, but I really want to set a goal and do it!

Pretty great list! In planning on reading the Bible all the way through too! My mom did it in 40 days once so surely 365 isn't so bad!
Also, you lost 35lbs?! That is awesome, lady! Go you!
This is a fantastic list!! Can't wait to see what 2014 brings you!! I'm thinking about sitting down and writing out my 2014 goals this weekend…it's the new year and I'm already behind! haha!
This is an awesome list! I love how you sorted it into categories. 2014 is going to be a great year for you! Have a great weekend! 🙂

this list is so great! i might have to steal one or two or three of your goals…
You are going back to Ireland with your brother?! That's AWESOME! I'd love to travel with my siblings! What fun! :)Looks like an exciting 2014, friend!
These are gooood goals. Like realistic and achievable, yet still original, big, and fun goals, too. I love the mix of health/personal/adventure and I'm excited to hear about each one as you cross them off!
Two of my favorite goals are writing your story (but I bet you saw that coming from this girl over here, right?) and getting involved. I just might have to adopt those two!
Also, capture the flag and saving for a sibling trip? How fun!!
Great goals! I too want to read the whole bible. It was my goal last year but I think I , ade it tnrough like 14%? Not so great…
Know what I think the best part of this list is? It is REAL. I think so many people set these idealistic goals, like "be happier" or "be intentional" when really they're subjective. Your's, on the other hand, are achievable, real goals you can grasp. Not that there's anything wrong with the goal of being happy or intentional, but I think these type of goals are much more realistic!
Side note. I read the Bible once cover to cover. It was hard. And the further I got, the harder it got. Eventually it was just a goal with no meaning behind it. When I was done I was excited; goal achieved! That was three years ago and now I wish I would have put some effort behind it. Actually read and studied along with it. My guess (although I don't know how quick of a reader/learner you are) is that this will take more than a year, and I would encourage you just from my experience to just kinda let it take its course, even if it is two year.
These are awesome, AMY!!! I LOVE your intentional goals! I look forward to hearing how you meet each one!!! Congrats on the first 35lb! That is a big deal! I lost 20lb 2 years ago and gained 10 back in the last 4 months due to inactivity and poor eating choices because of stress and being "too busy". BUT I am getting my butt back in shape in 2014 because my energy level has paid the price!
p.s. I gave a you a little shout-out in my latest post ("… what fires you up?") because your goals inspire me as I prayerfully write my own! Plus your posts ALWAYS encourage me. You are so raw and honest in your posts. i LOVE that. You are real… and I really love it 🙂
These are awesome goals. Reading the entire Bible is tough – {i.e. Leviticus} I know it was so easy to for me to do like you said and just read my assignment for today, close the Bible and check it off my list. I admire you for wanting to dig in deeper. Wishing you the best in 2014!
THese are GREAT goals darlin!! I am so excited for your sibling trip to Ireland and Scotland. I will be waiting:) xxoo Katie
LOVE your list! 🙂
And this made me laugh: "gun range + capture the flag.& no not together, this isn't the hunger games and that wouldn't end well."
Also, can I join you in kayaking? Maybe we can add that to the list of what we will do together when I come and visit. 🙂 I fell in love with kayaking in 2013 and need it in my life. NEED. IT.
I would love to read through the Bible all the way through as well. As you said, I would have to do it separate from my quiet time. I study a book of the bible paragraph by paragraph pretty much. But, I would love to read the Word all the way through. 🙂
I was a newbie to the whole "one word" thing, so my one word turned into three…

Those are lovely goals. Best of luck in 2014 getting what you set out to do!
