today you get to meet julia.
her blog is something i constantly look forward to – and often save for some of my “last views” so i can really spend time pouring over her words, links, and pictures. (which also means i sometimes let them pile up to review in a massive binge session haha)
i’ve come to learn that her writing style pulls you in, causes you to reflect, and makes you want to come back to hear more. you will definitely enjoy reading her blog.

Hello, there! My name is Julia and I blog over at Writer’s Block Near You! When Amy
emailed me and asked me about joining her in talking about real beauty, the
kind that is deeper than the skin, I got so excited!

I think real beauty is something that should be cherished
and celebrated, but instead it is being distorted and twisted and confused all
throughout our society. It breaks my heart.

You can’t turn on your television or radio (or even open a book!)
without being told what “beauty” is. this hair color. this
body shape. these clothes. this make up.

And if you do all that, your life will be complete!
It’s enough to drive a girl mad!
Anyways, thatโs why I think this series is so
important. You ladies need to know just how awesome you really are. Now, I am
by no means an expert on such matters, but if I could give you guys any advice,
it would be this:
important. You ladies need to know just how awesome you really are. Now, I am
by no means an expert on such matters, but if I could give you guys any advice,
it would be this:
YOU ARE ENOUGH.
YOU were created in God’s image. The Creator of every flowers and
every creature and every star in the sky sat down and created YOU. Every
freckle, every mole, every strand of crazy uncontrollable hair, and every single
eyelash, God gave you on purpose. That laugh that’s just a little
too loud? Those ears that stick out just a tad too much? That skin that’s just
a little too pale? God stinkin’ loves. He thinks you’re absolutely perfect.

One of my favorite verses growing up (that I would repeat over
and over any time I felt like I wasn’t enough) was Psalms 139. Those verses
remind me, and hopefully you, that God doesn’t make mistakes. We are exactly
how He wants us.

“For you (God) formed my inward parts; you wove me in my
mother’s womb. I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully
made; …” (vs 13-14)

How awesome is that??
Now, I would be lying if I said that knowing God delights (aka gets
a big ol’ kick) out of each us us is going to makes you feel 100% confident
every day. There are still times I find myself struggling with my image and I
feel less than beautiful (*cough*….like when seeing pictures of myself like
the one below….*cough*).

When that happens before I rush to put on my makeup or get all
dressed up, I close my eyes and I say the words of Psalms 139. I am “fearfully
and wonderfully made.” I picture God deciding my every detail. After
that, it seems quite silly to feel less than beautiful.

I hope this encourages you guys and makes you feel as beautiful
as you really are. Have a fantastically awesome day!

I love that you take a moment to remind yourself that you are fearfully and wonderfully made instead of letting destructive thoughts take hold. Smart lady! And beautiful too. ๐
Amy, you are one of the sweetest people. Thank you so much for asking me to take part in this series, and for all the kind words. I've been enjoying/learning so much through this series. You have a beautiful heart.
I don't think I've ever been to Julia's blog! Thanks for sharing how much you enjoy it.
Julia – it IS something to think that God MADE us, isn't it? It's kind of minblowing when you think about what that really means! ๐
Ooh! this is the first I've heard of Julia's blog too!
Loving the photo edits as well ๐
You are beautiful, sis, inside and out. Great series. Thanks for the read!
Thanks for the introduction of a new blog, and for these beautiful words of truth!
I love this! It is so true that we are simply inundated by what "beauty" is. It's suffocating!
This is such an encouraging post!
YOu are so beautiful. Love this!
