highlights from this weekend:
// walking through a West Elm & Ballard Designs store. pure perfection (also westelm favorited my tweet AND replied…AHHHH)
// the beautiful sunsets.
// Maria’s birthday!!! it is always fun to spend time with friends on their special day and i was thrilled that we were able to take some time off and enjoy each others company!
// i was flabbergasted from the LACK of beach and pool etiquette people had. i come from a town that has…uh…like 6 beaches within 30 minutes of my house and plenty of pools. there is just some “common knowledge” things that i guess aren’t so common in florida. needless to say that i was not impressed with their lack of “southern charm”.
// did i mention west elm?
// food. man oh man – i definitely took a break from my normal eating patterns this vacation and ate some things i’ve been craving. i had a bagel every.single.morning. and it was delicious! we also ate at this amazing italian place that was INCREDIBLE. granted i got pretty sick monday night (the downfall of taking a break from my normal eating).
// bold bean coffee roasters – y’all this place was amazing. hands down the best chai tea latte i have ever had in my life (and i have had many!). also, the feel of the shop – lovely. i loved all the subway tiles, clean lines, rustic vibe, and friendly people!
// sunshine. there is something about feeling the sun on your skin and just not having to think for a while. zoning out to music, a magazine, a book…and just being in the moment is one of my favorite things about summer.
// laughter. maria + christina + i always laugh when we are together. it can be over the smallest things and it can last for a while. i’m always thankful to have friends who enjoy life!!
// getting in my workouts. i worked out every single day (minus tuesday that was travel day). ran 1.5 miles, lifted weights, and did abs. it was worth it to me to stay on a schedule.
all in all it was a nice break from the daily routine!
What an awesome trip! Monsoons and bad pool etiquette is a bummer, but I'm glad you made the best of it! And girl, I'm SO proud of you for keeping your workout schedule during vacay. That's tough to do!
Yay!!! Yesterday on my drive home I was on this long stretch of road and it just started dumping rain and I thought to myself, "This feels like I'm on my way to the beach!" I don't know why, but there was ALWAYS rain during my drives to or from the beach. I love rainy days – even on vacation!
Take your time easing back into things here! And keep posting about Jacksonville for a while. 🙂
ps What is it with people and waterside etiquette?!?! I have soooo many stories. The worse involves someone throwing up (no alcohol was involved, so they KNEW what they were doing)!
Yay for a fun vacation! It looks like it was a great vacation and a great time to relax and hang out with friends–at the beach, too, no less. 🙂
I'm so proud of you for staying on schedule with your workouts! Did you run inside or at a gym? I've always wanted to try running on the beach!
Also, how was West Elm? I just got a catalog in the mail earlier this week and was oohing and aahing over all their stuff.
p.s. Wish Maria a happy belated birthday! I hope you all had as much fun as it sounds in this post!
Lemme guess, people peed in the pool and/or the ocean?? If that's not a breach of etiquette I don't know what is 😉
Totes ma goats…LOLz

You in that black dress! So pretty! Looks like you guys had a wonderful time together despite the initial monsoon and lack of proper beach etiquette. Happy 30th to your friend! 🙂
How fun! I'm proud of your dedication to your workouts, I always fail on vacations.
one of our good friends grew up in jacksonville.. OH MAN. they have the best shrimp and grits I have ever had!! i forget the name of the place.. but i still salivate thinking about it. what is the italian place called?
Uh, yeah. I've had some bad beach experiences with others as well. I try to avoid it when it is overly crowded or I find a spot away from people. ha! For instance, I never went to the beach on Spring Break. I don't think I would be able to handle that.
Other than that, what a fun weekend!
