to me means…
// accepting that you are, in fact, weird.
// late nights.
// learning that long-distance friendships are a real and tangible thing.
// consuming ridiculous amounts of coffee…or tea. or water. or just air.
// having a love/hate relationship with html.
// trying to explain to those who don’t blog what blogging is – and why it is important.
// asking your “in real life” friends if something would make a good blog post – and then getting that “i don’t care” look back.
// trying to not get caught up in the ugly comparison game.
// doing the creepy teeth suck/grunt when you see a post you wish you came up with. (or am i alone here?)
// digging deep and sharing the vulnerable stuff.
// experiencing momentary blindness from staring at a computer screen too long.
// seeing your voice as important – no matter how big or small your audience is.
// lugging your camera everywhere.
// agreeing that everything doesn’t have to be perfect – or even close.
// being reminded that you’re not alone – no matter what struggle you are facing.
// embracing and loving messy hair.
// challenging yourself.
// mastering the “butt shift” to relieve the weirdness of sitting too long.
// being constantly inspired.
// going on adventures you might not have before.
// learning to love yourself just a little bit more each day.
i am so blessed to know each, and every one of you.
cheesy? maybe.
but i mean it – from the bottom of my heart.
i have really learned what community is from blogging.
there is just something special here – sacred – something that can never be duplicated.
love all of these points! even when i feel i have nothing left to say or nothing of interest, i keep coming back because of the community here!
I was nodding and saying YES to each of these points. The butt shifting point had me laughing so hard because it's true!
Ahahah…the "butt shift." YES!
And amen to asking friends about future posts. Aside from one or two people. Most of my "real life" friends don't really read my blog so when I ask them about it they are like "uuuummm…I don't really have time to read blogs."
I loved this post, Amy! You described some things that I did that I didn't even REALIZE I did until I was reading them in your words here. π
I am so very glad to know you.
For me, blogging has been about growing and not caring so much what people think and making friends (that's been my favorite thing of all) and pictures…I already took a lot of pictures, but blogging has me taking even more!
Keep blogging! It is WORTH it. π
Oh, how this reminded me of why I love blogging and that I need to MAKE time for it somewhere, over something (obviously, I need to evaluate what I give time to.) I'm giving it to that I ought not to. Thanks for sharing your thoughts! (And I love the Snow White appliquΓ© on your MacBook!)
"doing the creepy teeth suck/grunt when you see a post you wish you came up with. (or am i alone here?)"
^^ Me as I read your post. <3
This was a beautiful blogger manifesto of sorts, Amy. Blessed yet again by your writing here. <3
BUTT SHIFT! haha. So true, though. Great list. Totally agree with all of these π Ah, blogging. I love you and think you're totally weird.
seriously love this post!!
An emphatic yes to all of the above!
Um, so this post made me want to grown because WHY DIDN'T I THINK OG THIS BEFORE? My goodness, you're a genius. π
Anyway, I agree with you 100% on this post. From the camera-carrying, to the late nights, to the long-distance friendships, to the comparison game, and vulnerability this post was 100% truth for me.
Can you please write another post like this? I loved it!
I love this post! For me, it's when I'm at an event with real life friends and they do the eye-roll "Is this going on the blog?" look.
i seriously did the butt shift…then i read your comment about the butt shift and i nearly fell out of my chair. ha.
really, though, i love all of these!
Yes, yes, yes and more yes! I love this post! Everything you said is so true. And why I love blogging!
I literally read the "butt shift" one RIGHT AFTER I did it, haha! That made me laugh. So true. And I think I love most the reminded that we aren't alone. That's so much of why I love blogging. π
Haha. This sums up blogging far too perfectly!!! π
Hahaha, yes to the butt shift! Ugh, and so many times I've wished I came up with an idea first! This is a great post Amy! =)
all of these things! love them.
also, i ooooh'd and ahhhh'd at your snow white decal. i am such a disney nerd. π
Love, love, love this post. I 100% agree with you. So, great. Especially what you said about "learning that long-distance friendships are a real and tangible thing" and "being reminded that you're not alone…"
π
Oh man, so many of these things! Especially, "having a love/hate relationship with html." Small victories!
Bahahahaa. The butt shift. YES. All of these things are so true. You really captured what blogging is really like π
