jetlag.
it’s real man, REAL.
my sleep schedule has completely been wonky since i’ve been back.
up at the most random times, jittery, and scatterbrained.
so…i thought i would share some thoughts on how to get over the dreaded jetlag and get back to daily life.
1 | depending on your flight schedule back home (mine was during the day!) try to stay up the entire flight(s). yes, it stinks, yes you’re tired, yessss that odd plane sleep is calling your name; but shut it down! watch some in-flight movies, read a book, oh…i dont know, talk to your seat buddy!
2 | get back to your normal schedule. yup, crawl into bed the same time (even if you’re not tired) and set that alarm. it will take a few days to start getting the hang of it again, but getting back to the “norm” helps the brain refocus.
3 | wear. yourself. out. the day after we got back i mowed my grass (which, if you’ve seen my side/back yard you would weep with me). did laundry, cleaned, and attempted to busy my mind. i’ve found that even though my schedule is still adjusting, if i really put myself into my day i’m TIRED by the time bedtime rolls around.
4 | relax. drink some sleepy time tea, do some stretches, calm your mind.
it takes time to get back into the swing of things – don’t stress yourself out if it isn’t automatic.
what about you? do you have any tips on getting past jetlag?
tell me your secretsssss. 🙂
