My morning routine looks something like this:
Half-wake up when Eddie leaves and gives me a kiss, fully wake up an hour or so later, stretch while praying, take 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar, drink a big glass of water, throw my clothes/shoes on, start a podcast and head out the front door.
I’ve found that if I start my day off with movement, it will carry on throughout my day.
The crip air paired with some encouraging words brings my mind and body to this level of alertness that I just can’t get from staying inside before tackling my tasks.
The last few weeks I’ve been listening to Jenna Kutcher’s Goal Digger during my morning steps.
With creating new blog content and trying to get my etsy shop up and running along with my photography business I’ve found myself a smidge overwhelmed and not really sure where to start.
At the church I attended in Charleston the pastor always said “leaders are readers”.
I truly believe that; I also believe leaders are listeners.
So carving out time each day to be intentional in taking a few minutes to listen to something that is educational and good for business and creativity – it just seems smart.
I remember in college reading something about how your brain retains more information during/after an exercise.
Maybe that was a ploy to get college students moving more and making healthier choices; but it has always rung true with me.
I feel most inspired when I’m out walking or when I’m putting in time at the gym.
The blood is flowing and so is the creativity.
If you were to open the notes app on my iPhone right now you would see lists of different ideas.
One of my main ideas, or focus, I should say is making better choices.
Choices like: spending more time in the Word and with Jesus, eating healthier foods, exercising more, investing in people, etc.
A key feature of those choices is choosing quality over quantity.
Eddie & I have been talking about how we want to start going to local butcher shops for meat and getting produce from the places that sell from local farmers.
We want to choose well – not just choose.
So that’s where I am right now – starting my mornings off right and developing a schedule all while trying to make better choices.
Whew.
We’re getting there friends!
How do you start your days and what choices are you making to better your own life?

** PS – I love love love this outfit.
I’m not just saying that because they sent it to me – in fact I’ll be purchasing MORE of the leggings.
Being able to keep my phone tucked away while at the gym or on a walk/run is SO convenient and helpful.
I can also tuck a key in there since the pockets are so deep; so if you’re on the hunt for some new workout gear ((all under $50!)) check them out and use the discount code below.

I love the pocket on the side! I need some of those! I’m also trying to add more morning movement to my routine and getting outside before I start my day. You go girl!
I love the pocket too!
It is seriously my favorite part! 🙂
WOOHOO to morning movement! <3
Ooooh. These look SO comfy. And girl, you are killing it in the fitness department. I’m so impressed by your hard work and dedication!
They are TOTALLY comfy, not even kidding 🙂
And thanks friend! I’m slowly SLOWLY making it more of a priority! AHHK
Amy! I love this outfit SO MUCH! Leggings with pockets?!?!!? GAH! Also how dreamy is your morning run!!!
Question – why do you drink apple cider vinegar?
I love it too!
IT IS SO DANG COMFORTABLE!
The Apple Cider Vinegar is SOO good for gut health, promotes high cholesterol, helps to detox the liver, etc
Love this post, Amy! Proud of you and your workouts! You are an inspiration! And leggings with pockets are the BEST!
Thanks friend! 🙂
I’m slowly getting there – trying to make it more of a priority!
That outfit IS super cute! I love when you can find a great workout outfit that feels good when running. How awesome that you are able to run first thing in the morning to get your day started! I wish that I could. However with our schedules, it just isn’t feasible. Maybe one of these days… Fingers crossed!
I don’t run EVERY morning – some mornings it’s just walking 😉 hahaha.
But I will totally say that these pants are a game changer. I really want to replace my entire (loved) leggings with them because i LOVE the iphone pocket – It’s so useful.
And I feel you on the schedules! Mine was recently changed with the getting married and moving so I have more time to do it; but I know it will change again 😉
This is so inspirational that you make me want to be a morning fitness person. Two problems: I have to leave for work by 7:30 a.m. and just NO to getting up any earlier (ha!). And second, after many years of trying, I finally accepted that I get in a much better work out later in the day. I always struggle the whole time at the gym in the morning with sluggishness whereas I can really get in the zone after noon. Oh well! You HAVE inspired me to consider morning dog walks on the weekend–that’s a level of fitness I think I can handle early in the day. 🙂
I used to not get up that early – but the hubs and I have been going to bed so early and getting up early (he gets up WAY earlier than I do!) But i’m wide awake by 630am. 🙂 I’m really learning to just START my day right. But i totally get it! I can’t do a full workout until I get a little fuel in my body after my morning walk hahaha.
YESSS You can totally walk the dogs! That’s such a good place to start!
