Thoughts on Time.

The past weekend was full of some tough thoughts.
I was able to speak with Eddie for a few days and while they were glorious, they were also riddled with some hard stuff. We had to walk through conversations on expectations, comparison, communication, and time.

The truth is – time is fleeting right now.
It’s standing still and moving quickly, as it always does.
We are physically (and communicatively) apart for a long period of time and while I knew it was coming, now that I’m in the midst of it I find myself battling a ton of emotions.

I catch myself day dreaming of the time we will spend together. The projects we have around the house, the concerts we will attend, the baseball games, the hiking trips, the moments full of adventure. I can’t wait for those times and while they won’t be too long from now they seem like years.

This deployment season has been one huge box of unknown. There was only so much I could do to prepare myself before moving in to the state of reality of it happening. With Eddie being on a submarine our communication is incredibly limited and that has been a huge adjustment for me. I am a social person, a conversationalist, I thrive and grow and am satisfied by those heart-to-heart moments of really getting to the depth of a person and situation. Yet right now that just is not in the cards for us; and boy if that isn’t a tough pill to swallow.

Homecoming will come and with that day I wanted to have a few presents for my husband to celebrate his return. With all this chat of time I knew that a JORD watch would be the perfect fit for him. It would symbolize the time we’ve spent together, the time we’ve had a part, and the time we get to look forward to. Honestly, compared to others I’ve seen, this wood watch stands out in terms of quality, craftsmanship, and style and I knew it was a must-have for Eddie. I’m hopeful that with each day he wears it he is reminded that no matter where we go, no matter how much time passes, that we are together and he is my person and the rest is just that….the rest.
