With Eddie being on deployment I’m trying to give myself some milestones to reach to help the time pass. Some of the things I’ve been trying to cross off are house-hold revamps I can do on my own. Which means I’ve been doing a lot of painting, purging, organizing, and decorating. There is still SO MUCH to do and I need to start buckling down and commit time to making it happen!
Below are some of the areas I’m hoping to have finished by the time Eddie is able to come home for a visit. Fingers crossed I can get it all done!
Downstairs Hall Bath | This half bath makes me so sad. When we bought the house there were so many holes/scratches on the walls that I haven’t patched/fixed yet. I really don’t like the mirror / light fixture / counter top / shelf that are in the bathroom. The floor is also this cement-style hexagon floor that while I really like the pattern it wasn’t properly sealed so it looks SO dirty and has cracked spots. I am hoping that to keep scrubbing the floors will get up the dirt spots and make it look cleaner. My plans are to change out the mirror / remove the shelf / paint the walls / and maybe add in some removable wall paper. I may not be able to change the light fixture until Eddie gets back but I’m on the hunt!
Dinning Room | I FINALLY painted the room white (YAY!) to help bring in some more light into the room because before the room felt like a cave. I need to really organize and purge through my “hoard pile” from the move and put things in their right place. Our painting needs to be re-hung, the trim needs to be painted, a new light fixture, Eddie wants to build a table, we need a rug for the space, and down the line we would like to knock out a wall to make the entry way larger and this room more inviting.
Entryway | This space desperately needs a fresh coat of paint – all the way up the stairs too! I want to get a new shoe organization system because the current one is rickety and falling a part a smidge. Down the road I could see myself doing some really cool pattern on the stair backings and painting the trim of the stair railing. We need new light fixtures in this space as well (two to be exact) and that will happen when Eddie comes home.
The Pantry | OOOOO MAN We have a small pantry space right now and it dries me nuts (one day we will totally renovate this entire kitchen). The shelves are very deep and low and I’m not able to see everything really well. I definitely need to get some more organization happening while we wait on that renovation! I was browsing the book store the other day and found this book “The Home Edit” and am OBSESSED with all the organization ideas. After re-organizing our linen closet I’ve gotten the bug to just keep purging an organizing. Here is just a little inspiration below!
My Office | This has been a tough one to post. As it stands right now this room is FULL of disorganization and hoard piles that I simply don’t know what to do with. I’ve got pictures stacked up that I haven’t hung throughout the house yet, clothes that I’m selling on poshmark (so many more to list), papers to organize, etc. For the mean time I’ll be painting the room and leaving the chair rail until Eddie gets home; he will be doing some board and batten in this room (YAY!). I also want to get a gold curtain rod and hang up the west elm curtains I had in my old house (pictured here). I’m obsessed with my desk and got it second hand when a local boutique closed. The large work table is one that Eddie built and I need to organize it better.
