It’s a weird time friends, scary and unknown times that can fill us with a lot of feelings. I just want you to know that whatever you’re feeling it’s ok to process it and work through it. I’m finding it hard to get the “balance” of all the things and I recognize that it will take some time to see what comes next.
I was just talking to my Aunt the other day and it seems like there are 1,000 things I could be doing but there are mornings I wake up and I just don’t know where to start. I feel like I should be creating all this blog content because people have the time to sit down and read. I feel like I should be organizing and purging ALL the rooms in our house and while I am doing that, I’m not doing it daily. I want to accomplish and cross off every house to-do list but let’s keep it real, that would require a lot of spending money and Lowes trips and neither of those is something we need to be doing right now.
Then I need to take a deep breath and remind myself it’s ok to NOT do all the things and to take it day by day in regards to figuring out this new normal for right now. We’re all in this together and we will all get through it together.
- Give yourself some grace and allow some space in your life.
Whatever it looks like make sure you’re giving yourself time to process whatever you’re feeling or seeing around you. If you need to hear this again just remember, it’s ok to not feel ok, just talk to someone about it! (I’m here if you need me!)
- Update a space using only what you have on hand.
Now is the time friends, dig through that craft pile, look through your garage, and try to see your space in a new light! Maybe it means painting one of those gorgeous wall circles that are big right now. Or how about using some old paint to update a piece of furniture, you know be creative!
- Make a list of your favorite local places.
This may sound weird, but y’all they are going to need our help during and after this season of life. While we are watching our budget right now we are also trying to support local about once a week. Either ordering carry out or purchasing a gift card / item from their online store.
- Clean up your digital life.
Go through those emails, unsubscribe from newsletters you no longer love, organize those pinterest boards, cull through who you’re allowing to influence your life. I’ve realized I really want to engage more with the people I’m following on social media so I need to cut out some of the noise that no longer speaks to me.
Seriously, take some time getting to know Jesus better and calling out to Him on how you’re feeling or what you’re struggling with and I promise you’ll feel some peace.
- Bust out one of those cookbooks you’ve got laying around (I see you!) and make a recipe or two out of it!
I’ve been doing this over the last two weeks and it’s been fun to try something new. If your’e feeling extra frisky make/bake something and drop it off at a friends house just because. Now more than ever small acts of kindness can lift our spirits.
- Get your hands dirty.
Whether it’s doing some yard work, planting new things, going through junk drawers, purging clothes, organizing the kitchen…do something you’ve ben neglecting.
- Take an online class.
There are SO many amazing companies offering free subscriptions right now to help ease the struggle of staying home. (fitness classes, business classes, creative classes, etc)
- Visit gorgeous museums online!
Getting a “out” for a virtual tour of museums is something I want to do more of! Have you toured any of the museums yet? Here is a link for just a few of the museums I’ve seen up!
- Pick up a book or three.
Escape into some type of different reality and soak in some fiction or learn with something educational. It’s so good to browse through books and find new worlds to explore and minds to understand.
Do you have any things you’re hoping to try during this season of life?
Have you been doing anything on the list above?
Tell me all about it, seriously, let’s chat!
