I was exploring our new town the other day and stumbled into this small little town with their main street lined with American flags. My heart swelled with pride and my eyes brimmed with tears. I’m not sure what it is about the American flag that brings a certain stillness to my heart, I’ve always felt this way, even before being a military wife. I’ve felt an immense pride for my country, a connection to those who protect it, a love to serve others and to take care of our values.
Sacrifice.
As I was thinking of what I wanted to post today the only word that could come to my mind is sacrifice.
The sacrifice of so many so that we could have our freedom.
The men and women who have laid their lives down so that we can freely walk out of our homes and into our daily lives.
The family who have lost service members and didn’t get a chance to say goodbye.
The hearts that are broken from loosing someone so precious and important.
I have not lost someone close to me from serving our country, but it is now a fear I live with and it is even more sobering.
Please join me today to remember those who have sacrificed for this country.
While I may not agree with ever facet of our Country; I do love our people and I do support the freedom that has been bought with the blood of so many.
Put down the BBQ, step away from a screen, and lift up a prayer of protection, of thanks, of gratitude, and of comfort for all those who have lost someone in the war for our freedom.
