This past Saturday night we were lounging in the Den binge watching some Live PD when I blurted out “I want a shelf up there” and pointed excitedly above the TV. Eddie was all “alright….what kind of shelf?” you could tell he was just going to roll with whatever I said. I saw an inso picture on pinterest and wanted something simple with just wood and brackets.
We had some extra wood in the garage from some past and upcoming projects and we eyeballed the length and Eddie went to cutting. He ordered some brackets off of Home Depot to pick up curbside (hello quarantine) and I didn’t notice until later that they match the rest of the room perfectly. The black brackets match our black curtain rods, the DIY yarn tapestry, and our current black rug.
It’s honestly a breath of fresh air and I really think it FINALLY grounds this space in a way that it was missing. I will also fully admit that shelf decorating can be a challenge. Especially when you’re left to shop your house and pull things from other spaces to pull it all together. All in all I’m super happy with it and can see it changing as the season flow through.
