As a mama I’m always looking for ways to make our meals a bit more nutrient dense, aren’t we all?
Not only that, but I’m working more on us eating at home and focusing on home cooked meals vs convenance (I say as I’m popping some chicken nuggets into our favorite low-tox air fryer tonight because mama is tired of cooking today š ). I honestly got tired of hunting for crescent rolls that had not only had a clean ingredient list but also didn’t have 15+ items that I didn’t even know why they were in there.
Enter, this EASY crescent roll dough you can throw together and have ready for dinner time. I use this dough not only for crescent rolls but also for pigs in a blanket (like the video you’ll see below), to make pizza pockets, taco cups, and more! It’s honestly incredibly forgiving dough and so versatile.
PS – I’ve recently been digging into the nutritional benefits of fresh milled flour and finding Sunrise Flour Mill has been a game changer for my baking. Our whole family has noticed a difference; we fill fuller faster, no bloated/sluggish feeling later, and it just tastes better! They use organic heritage wheat, unlined milling technology, zero additives, and are just an awesome small business! They have sourdough kits, bundles, pancake & waffle mix, cereal, etc. THIS LINK will give you 20% off your purchase!

⢠1/2 tsp saltĀ
⢠optional desiccated beef liver powder – 1 scoop (I use Perfect Supplements Desiccated Beef Liver)
⢠optional nutritional yeast – 1 tbspĀ (I get mine from Trader Joes)
How To:Ā
1. Warm milk in saucepan over a medium heat until itās warm when you test it with your finger but not hot. Remove pan from heat.Ā
2. Whisk in the sugar and yeast until they both have dissolved. Stir in butter until the residual heat has melted it; if you have a few pieces of unmelted butter left thatās ok. Whisk in the egg.Ā
3. In your stand mixture mix together the flour, salt, desiccated beef liver and nutritional yeast. Make a well in the middle of your flour mixture. Pour in the milk mixture and bring everything together into a rough dough with a fork.Ā
4. Put your dough hook on your stand mixture and knead for 5 minutes until you have a smooth sticky dough.Ā
5. Cover the bowl and leave in a warm place for an hour until the mixture has doubled in size.Ā
6. Pour out dough onto a well floured surface and use top a sprinkle of flour. Press dough out into a large circle.Ā
7. Cut dough into wedges (or wonky wedges in my case, ha!)
8. Roll each crescent starting at the widest end into the smallest end. *Ā
9. Brush with butter, oil, or milkĀ
10. Bake at 375 for 13 minutesĀ
*NOTE: This dough is good for SO MANY THINGS. We make little pigs in a blanket (like you see in this video), we use the dough to make pockets, I use them to make taco cups, etc. Itās super versatile.
