this weekend brought a lot of clarity.
i was incredibly inspired while breathing in the fresh (and cold!) mountain air. listening to the wind rustle through the trees, feeling the chill of winter sink into my bones, surrounded by god-fearing women i am blessed to call friends, hearty dinners around a large wooden table filled with laughter, deep conversations, and bread. did i mention the bread? yeah it was homemade – so was the espresso we had. (y’all homemade espresso & fresh ground coffee is the absolute best)
we were able to stay with the mom & dad of one of the girls – and y’all this is an authentic log cabin. the ENTIRE thing, walls, floors, roof, all beautiful wood beams! (and you know how i feel about rustic!) the weather was flawless – nice and FRIGID 😉 my kind of weather and the food was absolutely delicious.
saturday we spent our day at the biltmore estate – and my oh my it was glorious.
if you’ve never been – you have to go! it is MASSIVE, beautiful, and full of rich history. we toured the house (not the whole house, probably just 1/3) and then a part of the estate (including some green houses). we were going to finish the day at the vineyard with a wine tasting but we were exhausted so we just went and bought some wine. 🙂
sunday we got up and went for a 2 hour hike before hoping in the car to drive home.
y’all that hike was fantastic – even though some of the rocks were covered in ice.
it made for some interesting moments of sliding and falling – and i may have wanted to crack the ice at all times – so we made that happen too. 🙂
This looks so fun!! And that cabin looks amazing! Glad you got to have some of the adventure you've been craving! =) …p.s. your hair looks way cute in a pony =)

Hi. So this is going to be a realllllly long comment, but I'm just going to pretend you expected just that from me. 🙂
1. That first paragraph? That is the perfect-ist weekend ever. Cold mountain air, wooden tables with laughter and deep conversation, AND homemade bread? Amazing. Just amazing. I'm so glad you had such an amazing weekend! 🙂
2. That indoor garden is spectacular! I'm pretty sure I could spend hours in there just stopping and taking photos with every step I take.
3. That hike sounds like such a wonderful time. A weekend of hiking is on our to-do list, okay?
4. Oh, and your photos? STUNNING. I looove that cabin photo, the bridge photos, the reflection photos, the sunshine photos, the flower photo(!!!), and the rocks, too? I think it's safe to say that I looooved them all.
p.s. You and your friends are so beautiful!!!
Love this! I can just feel the mountain air in these photos! Makes me long to visit the mountains again!
Sounds like an amazing weekend getaway! Those pictures look absolutely beautiful and tranquil. And homemade bread? I think I'm drooling a little bit on my keyboard.
Looks like an awesome trip! Give me a cabin in the woods (or by a lake) with some awesome hiking nearby and I'm a happy girl. Probably why I loved Lake Tahoe so much. 🙂
Great photos as always. 🙂
GORGEOUSNESS! Looks like such a great way to spend time with friends.
I love your blog
