yes – i just made a vanilla ice reference – and i know deep down you love it.
we had our first “snow” day here in charleston in 4 years – and before that was almost 11.
granted – it snowed for about…er…20 minutes and didn’t stick the rest was sleet and ice.
LOTS of ice.
all of our bridges closed – roads were closed – etc.
truthfully – i loved it.
today we’re going into work at 10am in hopes of the sun melting more of the ice – as one of our main bridges remains closed.
oh and just to give you a nice head snap – sunday it is supposed to be 70 degrees here – yeah.
so in my house robe and rain boots i walked around my front and back yard to take some pictures of the ice – because i was completely and utterly enamored by it.
enjoy.
we built a fire (that lasted a short while – as all of our good old wood was gone), watched some tv, did some reading, and relaxed. (ok and i had to clean a little bit)
i’m not going to lie – i wish today was another “snow” day – but i’m thankful that we didn’t loose power fully, that we had food and water, and were able to really enjoy the day.
snow days can be quite enjoyable when they're not too crazy! glad you got to experience one! 🙂
love the images! stay safe and warm. your swing in weather sounds like something from here… 7 degrees one day and 50 the next. this month for weather is just nuts.

STOP. Collaborate and listen. I love these photos!! Awesome job!! If you don't mind me asking, what kind of a camera do you use? I'm gonna start doing my research cause I'm really wanting to make a DSLR purchase this year! If there was a problem yo I'll solve it check out the hook while my DJ revolves it… 😉
Beautiful!!! I especially loved the third picture (the tree, up close with a bit of snow in it). Glad you had a day to just chill. Now, stop making me jealous with the fact that 70 is coming to THAW you out! 🙂
Amy, your photos were a little therapeutic for me. You made the ice looks so lovely and kind… to be honest, I've been feeling that ice is something of the devil this week, haha.
So glad you are safe. After a night of hell in Atlanta, I'm glad to see all my southern blog friends are blogging and cozy warm! 🙂
Ice is so pretty when it covers things, it just causes so many problems also! Great photos! It is supposed to get around 50 here today, but I doubt it will. As I write this, I thought it was raining outside, but it's all the snow/ice melting and falling off our roof. I'm sad to see it go, but I would have loved it more if it had been all snow. 🙂
I've totally been waiting for someone to do the Vanilla Ice thing. My whole FB newsfeed is from Florida since that's where we lived before Texas, so I've seen lots of the ice updates and stuff. They actually had to close the bridges there to pedestrian traffic as well because people we sledding down them in laundry baskets 🙂
Great job capturing the ice in these pics, they are fantastic!!
Stay safe in all the ice!
Jealous! We've seemed to miss all the ice and snow both times around. If it's going to be this cold, it at least needs to do something!
You are quite the photographer! As miserable as the freezing cold is, you make it look beautiful! And I very much appreciated the Vanilla Ice reference 🙂
XOXO

Oooo… Those pictures are absolutely gorgeous!!!
beautiful photos! I always thought ice and frost were so inspiring to take pictures of!
I'm so glad you were able to thoroughly enjoy your snow/ice day, too! I have always loved freezing rain and have been kind of hoping that we get some someday (not for the chaos and icy roads, but for the photography, of course). But alas, we haven't had it in years so I'll have to live vicariously through your stunning photos. The lighting and detail and macro-ness of it all is amazing. Great job capturing the details, my friend!
Ice always makes for fun pictures! They are saying we could have some freezing rain tomorrow morning and I'm kind of hoping we do!
It's supposed to be 40 degrees here tomorrow and after hovering around zero for the past few days it's going to feel like 70!
Beautiful photos!
I love ice pictures, so pretty!
