…it is with a heavy heart i start this post.
i actually wasn’t planning on posting today, and then last night happened.
i, along with many in the nation read all of the news this morning on charleston, sc.
9 dead.
NINE.
and the shooter is still not in custody.
this tragedy happened actually just a few miles from my office…and i’ll be driving there soon to start my day. but how can i really start my day knowing that this senseless act of violence has happened.
i think what is shaking everyone to the core, is the location.
9 people were killed praying to the Lord.
in the safety of the house of God.
in the comfort of Jesus.
my heart is so heavy.
i actually posted the following this morning on Facebook and thought to share it here, these were my first thoughts upon waking, and are the thoughts resonating with me even now…
please be praying for the families of those who lost their lives.
for the city of charleston.
for our nation.
we desperately need the grace, mercy, love, and salvation of Jesus.
we need hope.
we need courage.
we need to be resilient.
i find it only fitting to share my post from the ferguson shootings last fall.
my prayer is this binds us together.
it unites hearts instead of causing discord.
that riots and hate crimes do not become something of the norm; but that we show the nation how to handle this anger and injustice with grace and compassion for one another.
charleston is my home, has been since birth, i love this city and the people.
please cover us with your prayers.
