when we left ardgroom we found ourselves passing the forest again.
pull over i excitedly whispered to lando.
we saw another entrance to the forest a few 100 feet down the road, climbing over the ladder, we began to hike.
more moss, more stunning views, more narnia feels.
then there was an opening – and woah.
we kept hiking, saw more stone circles, and we saw a little clearing farther up the way.
more walking, more windy fun, more excitement.
we turned the corner, and oh. my. goodness.
there have been beautiful moments on this trip…but this one, this one was beyond stunning.
i’ve stood on top of mountains and been awed, but i think the spontaneous moments when you are caught off guard of how beautiful something can be are some of the best.
in the clearing there was this beautiful view of huge lakes and mountains for miles.
the sunlight was soft, the wind was strong, and we soaked it in for a long time.
in the midst of us being caught up in all of the pretty – we overlooked the HUGE storm cloud that was hanging around and moving towards us quickly.
we quickly turned around and started hiking back down.
lando suggested a random detour, and i was a mom for a second thinking wait, what if we get lost and it starts pouring on us. then i reminded myself – who cares, you’re in ireland, get lost in the rain.
and so we did, kind of.
random paths in the forest led us back to our car (yay!)
and we were ready to head back home and drink some hot tea by the fire.
