The weeks leading up to my husband’s deployment I found myself focusing on some things I was hoping to accomplish in his absence. I am a woman who thrives on schedules / lists / ideas / calls to action & plans of action. I started with a rather long list of at least 20 things and staring at it began to deflate me a little more each line I went down. How was I going to get all of that done? Here is another honest fact about myself, I jump – A LOT – from thing to thing and am praying to be better focused in all areas of my life. Which means a list that long would be a hinderance rather than a goal for me.
I started crossing things off the list and narrowed it down to 5 things I’m wanting to really focus on. They are things that range from health, to budgeting, to having some fun! I wanted to keep some of it a little broad in order to not feel so constricted to a list of must-dos!
Why have goals during this season?
Well for me it helps to keep my mind busy and pulls me out of the sadness that ebbs and flows with Eddie being gone. I also am able to pour my focus into certain areas and set little milestones to look forward to in order for the time to pass by more quickly; at least that’s the goal!
- Meal prep & Sticking with our grocery budget.
- Be able to do a split. (I’ve wanted to do this for years!)
- Loose 30lbs.
- Read 2 books a month.
- Try something new every month.
I feel those are pretty doable goals to have for this season of life. The only one that seems rather daunting is loosing 30lbs because y’all it’s been tough! I actually just recently joined Weight Watchers to track my food and see if that makes a difference over the next few months. I can already say it is causing me to look at food a little differently and change up my routine which is a good thing!
