Y’all this room has been needing a refresh for quite some time. With us not living in the house for the first year of owning and then my friend staying with me for another 9ish months in this space it was just never touched. After she moved out I had a shell of a room with ugly walls, mis-matched furniture and a space that was just sitting there unused with no purpose.
Below is the MLS photo from when the house was listed and beneath that is kind of where I started the process of testing paint swatches and moving things around. I am currently trying to sell the bed frame you see in the paint swatch photo on FB Marketplace and once I got that out of the room I moved the whole bedroom set into one space to make it more cohesive.
This room will be used for a guest room and another backdrop for when I have in-home boudoir photography clients so I wanted it to feel warm, welcoming, and honestly super cozy.
If you follow along on my instagram you probably saw that it was quite the saga trying to find the right “griege” color to go on these walls. When it was all said and done I think I ended up painting about 10 different paint samples on the walls and stared at them during different times of the day. Even when I was painting the walls I wasn’t totally sold on it because the yellow was casting horrible tones all around it. It wasn’t until all the walls were fully painted that I felt confident in the color and then the next morning I FELL IN LOVE with it. Not going to lie, this is probably THE color that will be going throughout our house as we slowly re-paint things. It’s got that rich tone of feeling like a hug but still bright and airy.
I ended up painting all the furniture in the room white as well. This bedroom set holds a special place in my heart as it belonged to my great-grandmother (mom’s dad’s mom) and while I never met her it is so nice to have something that belonged to her. I had already painted the bed and had it in my studio space but wanted to move it into this room so the entire set could match. I still have another piece of furniture with this set called a “tall boy dresser” that is at my brothers so one day it will either make it’s way over here to get painted or maybe they will hold onto it? Who knows!

Still to do…
- Hang curtain rod (I’m thinking a black curtain rod)
- Get new curtains
- Replace blinds with more of a pull down light blocking system
- Update closet doors
- Hang photos / wall art
- Maybe get a rug for in here?
- Get a large plant for the corner between the night stand and the dresser
- New quilt / duvet
What house stuff are y’all working on recently?
