What is Frankly Friday?
Let’s define Frankly shall we…
. . .
This week i’ve really been jammin’ out to this song:
Circa ’46 by: The Rocket Summer.
He is absolutely, hands down one of my favorite musicians and lyricists.
I have found that the chorus has been on repeat constantly within my head.
Life will write the words, but you choose your own melody.
Yes, life has given me hurt, but i choose my own melody.
And sometimes it’s that sad, sad song I’m singing all my day long.
I’m just trying, trying to find the right notes.
I keep rolling each phrase over in my head.
Life, circumstances, and situations cause us to go about our days a certain way…but we get to choose the tone in which we approach it. I can choose to be melancholy, excited, frustrated, angry, sad, joyful with each day, that is my choice.
Yes, life has given me hurt…some days are just absolutely heart breaking.
Some days bleed into weeks and months and possibly years of frustration, bitterness, and pain; yet i still have the amazing ability to choose my own melody.
Some days it’s that sad, sad song…i have days like this where all i want to do is put myself in a corner and reflect and cry {we all do, we’re human}. Sadness is inevitable it will catch us at one point in time or another; and i honestly believe that experiencing pain and sadness is vital to life.
How can you know and appreciate true joy if you have yet to experience the absence of joy?
It’s not to say that the melodies that encompass some days aren’t going to be filled with sadness. It’s also not to say that we can’t choose to change the melody as the day goes on.
Some days start off terrible and i find myself saying Amy, enough…snap out of it and i change the tune.
. . .
Where are you at in your melody this week?
What is frustrating you? Bringing you joy? Enlightening your day? Wearing you down?
Be frank with yourself today, be honest and transparent to those around you and remember…
Life will write the words.
YOU choose your own melody.
. . .
Very thought-provoking!
This makes me think of what was talked about last night at my Praise and Coffee meeting… praise him in the storm! Life may be dealing us a band hand at the moment BUT we can choose to praise anyways.
wow friend!!! i wrote a post for next week along the same lines! I've been struggling with some feelings of fear lately… just in life… and phillip phillip has been speaking to me clearly through his lyrics! I'm so thankful to whatever gets through to us in those moments b/c they're some hard ones to get through!
happy friday and hope you stay on the positive beat!
This is wonderful. I love that line…it's so true. Life throws everything good and everything bad at us, but it is what we choose to make of it that really matters. I'm going to link up next Friday!
