botany bay.
this is one of my favorite places to go get lost and soak up some sunshine and enjoy the quiet.
when meg and her friend were recently in town i took them out to botany bay for an evening to show them this little hidden gem that i love so much.
botany bay is a wildlife preserve out on edisto island that continues to still my heart every time i go.
the beautiful thing about this place – it is so untouched!
you’re not allowed to take anything off of the beach (shells, driftwood, etc) so you’re able to see all of the intact stunning shells while strolling. that on top of the trees, the drift wood, the marsh, the complete serene quiet of it all, it’s lovely. i’ve done a few photoshoots out here (you can see this one) and i always love bringing families out to enjoy and capture beautiful moments.
after we went to the beach i took them to Po Pigs Bo-BQ to have the most delicious southern bbq and other deliciousness buffet! growing up we always called it “bo bos bbq” and i still, to this day, ask my grandparents to bring me a big ol’ thing of hash & rice so i can eat until i want to cry. i LOVE hash (not liver, but bean) and theres is the best around – and have i mentioned the hush puppies or BBQ itself? so. dang. good. definitely another must when it comes to checking out edisto island! <3
what gems around your town do you love?
are you a beach person or a BBQ person, OR BOTH LIKE ME…yesss to all the good food and good places. <3
