Office/Study/Library Update…

Fun story from last night.
I definitely walked up to a guy who works at Target and told him i thought he was attractive.
Yup, that happened.
In the moment I felt pretty dang brave, now I feel a little creepy lol.
Man…I don’t know.
I kept telling myself “hey why not, you only live once”. So maybe it gave the guy a little ego boost that some random chick walked up to him and said “I just wanted to let you know I think you’re attractive” haha….I still can’t believe I did it.

. . .

Before giving you a proper update, lets start with where i first mentioned the office.

{you can browse through some previous posts here: mentioned office:  1 | sharing some inspiration 2 | starting with the painting 3 }
YIKES.
I mean seriously, that is really bad.
I’m actually embarrassed that i’ve let this room sit this way for so many years with the only updates equalling cleaning it up and moving in a new desk. Man oh man…some dark days friends, dark days.
. . .
Since those pictures we removed everything from the room – cabinets, the weird hutch/bookcase on the wall, replaced the floors, painted the trim, patched holes and painted the walls, and ordered a new bookcase (that hasn’t come in yet). Just this past weekend i finally got around to buying a new rug ($33 for a 5×8!! HOLLA – it’s a temporary (or maybe forever) rug because i am too cheap to spend over $120 on a freaking rug at the moment), cleaning up all of the paint mess, and moving out all of the random boxes so i could start organizing this room a little.
A lot of things can not be completed until the bookcase gets delivered (8/22!!!). Once the bookcase is assembled and all of my books are put in, i can start hanging some frames and a new shelf, etc.
Still to do:
+ look for some storage solutions for papers.
+ hang pictures
+ build shelf
+ look for new love seat
+ new standing fan
+ new overhead light fixture
+ figure out a solution to fix the cord problem at the desk
. . .

. . .
The big blank space on the left hand side is where the bookcase is going to go.
The random green dot above the desk is to mark my brother’s tv height, so when i build the shelf and hang pictures i have an idea of where to hang things.
& that beautiful metal skull?
Just bought that little gem this past weekend at home-goods $20!! YES.
It will be integrated into my halloween decor this year.
. . .
So there is the update on the office/study/library (i can’t figure out what to call it ha) at this point in time.
There is still a lot of work to be done, but honestly it looks 100% better already.
And to give you a guess of how excited i am about this room? I spent 90% of my Sunday in it playing online, replying to emails, reading blogs, having some quiet time, and writing blog posts.
Yup, i think i’ll be spending a lot of time in this room!

I can't believe you told Target guy he's attractive! You're so brave! I could never do that.

The office looks great! It looks fresh and classy.

Haha love the Target story! I doubt he found it creepy. There was a guy who I could tell was SUPER shy but still found the balls to come up to me at the gym, ask me to take off my headphones, and tell me thought I was really pretty. I think everyone likes to hear that compliment from time to time, so I wouldn't sweat it.

Now, to your office/study/library (all great names haha) – HOLY COW. It looks amazing girl! You did a fantastic job with the space. Such an incredible difference. I would love to cozy up with a book or write a blog post in there!

Girl, you are SO brave! I feel like I should give you a high-five because I honestly don't think I could ever walk up to anyone and tell them straight up that I thought they're attractive. And I know I'm going to sound like a teenager, but this is truly a YOLO moment! 🙂

Secondly, I love the updates to your office area! I'm always amazed at what a coat of paint can do. I am in love with all of the little details (including that brown leather bag by the end table!) and I can't wait to see how it looks when it's finished!

What was the Target guy's response? Any indication that he might be single and interested? 🙂

First of all – we would get along so well!! .i've never walked up to random people and said THAT, but if I have ANYTHING to say to or ask someone I just do it. Most of my friends and family are MORTIFIED. It's never backfired on me though and people are always ready to talk about themselves!

Second – LOVE this transformation! Can't wait to see the final thing, but this is already amazing. Nice work!

So what did the guy at Target say?

Also a suggestion that I saw on Pinterst which I want to also try: all the cords and surge protectors under the desk look like an eye sore. I saw a Pin where you put them in a small box that was a nice color.. with holes in the back for the cords to come out.

    Just a suggestion.

Is that room really long and skinny or is that just the way the pictures look? If it is, I give you mad props for decorating it (well, I do either way haha). Those longer rooms are the hardest to figure out in my opinion and I love what you did with it! The color looks great, even if it wasn't what you wanted and I cannot wait to see the book case in it!

I saw your tweet about Target guy! Oh my gosh. You have more guts than I do. In Tahoe we always talked about having flings and I swear that I saw a guy that I would have married right then and there. But of course, I never approached anyone. haha

Also, I LOVE your office/study/library/fun cave. haha It looks great! I love the colors and whatnot. I also like that houndstooth ottoman. 🙂 Great job on it! I would hang out in there all the time as well!

I love that you painted it a neutral color, it really does make the room look bigger. Good choice on taking those cabinets out as well. It looks great! Definitely more cozy 🙂
