willing to take risks or to try out new methods, ideas, or experiences
am I adventurous?
not always – but i’m willing to be.
that’s what I was telling him, i’m always willing to try new things – in fact I want to try new things.
i want to go backpacking through the mountains, hiking trails, paddle boarding, jump on an impromptu road trip, think outside of the box (i already do that ha).
i want to be adventurous.
{here}
i want to get my hands dirty.
show off bruised knees and scratched palms.
jump in freezing rivers.
and test my limits.
i want to be adventurous.
{here}
i want to soak in the sun rays and be knee deep in a wheat field.
i want my shoulders to be soar from paddeling.
chase fireflies at night.
count the stars.
tell stories around a blazing fire.
feel the breeze touch the sweat on the back of my neck.
i want to be adventurous.
{here}
i want to hear the coyotes call and experience a cold night in the woods.
to carry my life in one backpack for a few days.
to be disconnected from the world.
to leave my problems at the edge of the forest and connect with God without distraction.
i want to chop wood and do manual labor.
i want to have meaningful conversations in the still of the night.
i want to be adventurous.
{here}
i have this desire to dig my toes into the sand.
watch the waves as the sun sets.
even though I’ve done it a thousand times – i desire to do it a thousand more.
i want to be adventurous.
{here}
my heart yearns for adventure.
craves it.
relishes in the idea and action of it.
my heart has the unquenchable desire to be apart of some epic story where i play a role.
and yet i pass by adventure.
i deny my heart the experience of what it craves.
because of fear – or worry – or lack of funds.
…i make up excuses to not do the things i want to do.
{here}
so here’s to being adventurous.
to setting new limits.
climbing new mountains.
creating memories.
to embarking on a new path in our journey with God.
strengthening the foundation – and learning more about ourselves.
i want to be adventurous.
do you?
This post, these pictures….So good!
I know it's because things are about to get COLD around here, but yes, I have been craving adventure. Hiking in the mountains, taking bike rides just because, picking someplace and going there without a plan – all sound amazing right about now.
I do! This is a wonderful post Amy! The photos and the words alone make me want to come on these adventures with you! I feel like for me, sometimes life gets so busy that I always look forward to "relaxation," or weekends with nothing planned so I can lay around and do nothing…which is perfectly enjoyable at the moment. But then I start thinking over the course of a few "relaxing" weekends I'm like, wait a second, I need to DO something! Something fun, and new, and exciting…something adventurous!! The same excuses often hold me down too, but if we're creative enough we can make adventure happen!! Thanks for the inspiration this morning =)
Amen! I am the same way. My heart craves adventure and new experiences…but I am too scared sometimes to try them… or too content in my cozy little home. 🙂
i love this. all of it. the pictures, your words. i got chills reading because this is so me. i want all of those things, and yes, i do make time for some adventures, but i want more. and fear and lack of funds get in the way far too many times. sometimes you just have to jump in the roaring river, keep your feet in front of you and let it take you where it will.
This is beautiful, dear girl! Like you, I long for adventure!
What an absolutely beautiful post, it resonates with me so much as I am exactly the same I say I want to be adventurous but I always feel there is something standing in my way – I've now realised it's probably me!
Go and be adventurous 🙂

Love this Amy!
But don't limit adventure to nature and physical things. The most exciting adventure for me has been spiritual… moving to this house in this area to impact. Risky? Absolutely! A new idea? No doubt! People don't move down here because they WANT to. The experiences have been so rewarding!
I used to be much more adventurous in the way you described. I was super spontaneous. But having kids kind of limited those things because of schedules, finances, whatever. But I have a found a new way to be spontaneous and adventurous and it isn't costing me money! (We would have bought a house regardless haha.)
Just want to encourage you to be adventurous in your thinking about what adventure is! 🙂
AH. Man oh man, I loved this. 🙂
This was so BEAUTIFULLY written, Amy!
I could literally make a bucket list with just your post. Reading this makes me want to go chop wood and use my hands for something, anything. Thank you for sharing and a reminder to all of us to find adventure in life. 🙂

Girl, I told you you're on fire when it comes to posts these days.
From the stunning photos, to the well-written words, to the goals and dreams and future adventures. I loved it all.
I, too, make up excuses for not pursuing dreams and adventures. I tell myself that I can't do these things because I don't have a husband or boyfriend to do them with. Or friends or family who want to do these crazy things with me. Truth is, I haven't even asked anyone yet! Fear and worry are crippling, aren't they?
But back to adventure. I want to watch stars, see fireflies in real life (never have before!), climb mountain tops, ride in a hot air balloon, ride horses, run along the beach, and hike, hike, hike.
Here's to adventuring, friend!
SO GOOD!! I lovelovelove adventure! My heart craves it so much. The act of being brave is something I constantly am trying to grow in.
So glad I found your blog via Twitter tonight. I can't wait to read more.
Xo
