we all need to be poured in to.
i find that i’m often pouring so much out of myself (with commitments, conversations, volunteering, work, etc) that i walk away bitter, frustrated, complaining, and just worn out.
that isn’t ok…and that isn’t the design.
i need to be encouraged.
just like you need to be encouraged.
i’ve been working through beth moore’s “James” study and it is intense.
james has always been one of my favorite books in the Bible because it is a straight throat-punch.
many verses cause me to pause, evaluate, and repent, others make me weep, and even more make me throw my fist into the air in agreement.
…the truth is, i don’t know where you are today.
you could be full of joy – or you could be sputtering around on empty.
you could need this encouragement to speak to your soul – or you know someone else who needs to read it.
i hope her words pour into you and in turn you pour them into someone else.
i’ll let beth say the rest…
“BUT HE GIVES GREATER GRACE.”
don’t rush past those five words. Soak them in like rain on parched ground.
think of all that weighs on you: yesterday’s regrets, today’s demands, tomorrow’s plans. let the pitcher become the cup, and don’t just agree to be filled. sink yourself in those five words until all your fears of failure, inadequacy, unforgivness, and insufficiency drown.
don’t come up for air until those fears lay lifeless and cold on the bottom of the sea.
He is enough.
Let me say that again: He is enough. when you need more, you will have more. when your woes are great, His grace is greater. when our sins are vast, His mercy is deep. we cannot exceed Him. we cannot outrun Him.
may you be filled today with some love and help pour it out onto others.
i hope you have a lovely weekend!
